How to Order Testing in Canada
1. Speak with Your Physician
Begin by discussing genomic testing with your oncologist or referring physician. They will assess whether testing may be appropriate for your clinical situation and help select the most suitable test.
2. Select the Appropriate Test
Your physician will choose the test panel that best fits your cancer type and clinical question - whether that is comprehensive tissue profiling, liquid biopsy, or RNA sequencing.
3. Complete Patient Consents
Before testing proceeds, the required patient consent forms must be completed. Navexio will provide the necessary documentation, which covers the use of genomic data, cross-border sample shipment, and any applicable privacy considerations.
4. Receive a Sample Collection Kit
A sample collection kit will be provided to your clinic or pathology department. The kit includes all necessary materials and instructions for proper sample collection and preparation. In some cases, your physician may arrange for blood collection to be performed at a private clinic coordinated by Navexio - if so, the blood collection kit will be shipped directly to your home.
5. Sample Collection & Shipment
The sample (tissue block, slides, saliva, or blood) is collected and shipped to the Tempus laboratory in the United States. Navexio provides guidance on cross-border shipping and customs documentation.
6. Laboratory Analysis
Tempus performs next-generation sequencing and AI-driven analysis on your sample. Quality checks are conducted throughout the process to ensure accurate and reliable results.
7. Results Review with Your Physician
Results are delivered to your ordering physician via a secure portal. Your physician will review the findings with you and discuss what the results may mean for your care.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
The first step is to speak with your physician about whether genomic testing may be appropriate for your situation. If they agree, they can place an order and our team will provide a sample collection kit and shipping instructions.
-
Yes. A physician order is required for all Tempus genomic tests. Genomic testing is a medical procedure and results must be interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional in the context of your overall clinical picture. If you are interested in testing, speak with your oncologist or family physician.
-
Blood collection for Tempus liquid biopsy testing is simple and coordinated after the test is ordered by your physician and the required paperwork is completed. A specialized Tempus collection kit is provided along with detailed instructions for the blood draw. The sample is collected by a qualified healthcare professional at a local private blood collection clinic using the tubes included in the kit, then packaged and shipped to the Tempus laboratory in the United States for analysis. Navexio helps coordinate the process and provides guidance throughout the collection and shipping steps to help ensure the sample is handled properly and reaches the laboratory as quickly as possible. Any privately paid blood collection or phlebotomy fees associated with the Tempus test will be reimbursed by Navexio.
-
The cost of Tempus testing varies depending on the specific test ordered and the complexity of analysis required. For detailed and up-to-date pricing, please reach out directly to Navexio. Our team can provide accurate information based on your specific situation and the test being considered.
-
In some cases, there may be additional fees beyond the cost of the Tempus test itself. If a tissue sample is required, certain hospitals or pathology laboratories may charge fees to retrieve, prepare, or release the sample. You may also be asked to complete consent or release forms as part of this process. These fees may be billed directly to you by the institution, or in some cases coordinated through Navexio and invoiced separately. We will always communicate any additional costs transparently before proceeding wherever possible.
