When I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer out of nowhere, my family and I recognized the importance of understanding quickly both the specific mutations driving my disease - having learned early that no two cancers are alike - and the full range of current treatment options, beyond those covered by the provincial health system.. For this, we turned to Navexio.

Although a tissue biopsy had been performed on the primary tumor, Navexio recommended supplementing it with a liquid biopsy to provide further information for the oncology team. This additional testing would also enable Navexio to identify relevant clinical trials, should the need arise.

I was diagnosed in 2022 with stage IV intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Following surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy, scans and blood-based testing showed no detectable tumor cells. While this was encouraging, I understood this was likely not a cure, but a period of remission before the cancer could return.

“I consulted with NAVEXIO shortly after I had received my third cancer diagnosis. I was upset, confused, scared and frustrated that the Canadian Cancer system lack support as to therapies available, analysis as to why the cancer kept re-occurring in different areas in my body and did not understand how the system failed to provideeven basic strategies like diet.

What next?  What just happened?  Glioblastoma - a diagnosis that I could not even begin to know what to do with?  Doctors talking in a language I knew nothing about!  

Doctors who speak about this diagnosis with no personal connection to the patient. I mean this was my husband and my World.  NOW…..How do I keep my husband alive and what would be the right steps to do that?  Despite my husband having a very complex cancer diagnosis, we got the standard work-up of “Diagnosis/ Surgery/ Chemotherapy” for glioblastoma and then “Good Luck, this is all we can offer”. The hospitals have procedures that are paid for under the Alberta Health care but that is the only box they can work within.  But, most of our decisions needed to be outside the box!  This is where we had the blessing of working with NAVEXIO.
